Trust Sweet Iron Wide Port Segundo Full Cheek

We highly suggest this bit because the full cheek has two transverse bars on the jaw piece. This shape creates more pressure on the horse’s cheeks. This makes a horse easier to maneuver and a bit cannot be pulled through the mouth as easily. In addition, this bit is quiet and stable in the mouth. The full cheek is ideal for young horses due to the pressure distribution or spirited horses to prevent the bit from being pulled through the mouth. With the TRUST full cheek, the bars on the jaw piece are slightly bent outwards so that they cannot come into contact with the side of the horse’s head. It is therefore important that you hang the bit in the mouth with the rods facing out so that they cannot cause wounds.

The Wideport Segundo is a double-jointed mouthpiece with a port. Unlike the other mouthpieces with tongue arches, this mouthpiece can move freely creating some lateral flexibility. Because of the port, there is less pressure on the tongue, but it is distributed over the layers. There are sharper angles on the tongue arch, which creates extra pressure points on the tongue. Due to the movement of the tongue port, horses generally find it difficult to lean on this mouthpiece and throw the tongue over the bit.

The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color. Sweet Iron develops surface rust through contact with (air) moisture that tastes sweet and stimulates the horse’s saliva production in a natural way. This will cause the horse to foam more, which ensures better acceptance of the bit. This rusting process (oxidation) changes the blue color of the TRUST bits to brown-gray.
